Matt's Birthday!!

This year we decided to roll three events into one! Matt's birthday in June 14th, Mom graduated from college June 16th, and our 10 year anniversary is June 21st, so we came out this weekend to celebrate all three!

We had planned to leave Kennewick Wednesday morning, but didn't end up leaving town until 9pm! I had a chemistry poster to finish, and photography assignments to turn in, and it took all day to get those things done, and get packed! We had a nice drive though, and Thursday morning Gram, Matt and I headed out to see the usual sights. First we stopped to say "hi" to Terry who was building a planter outside the Blue Heron Cheese Factory. We chatted for a while, and then looked around the shop.

Next, we went to Bay Ocean first where we saw Caspian Terns diving into the water. They were quite of few of them, more than I have ever seen there at one time. We then did the usual Peregrine sighting at Cape Mears, where we also got to see two Oyster Catchers that had babies (although the babies were hidden).

We made a short stop at oceanside, and Matt and I got out and I took several pictures of him to commemorate his birthday!

After that we stopped by a couple of stores, including the cheese factory where we got ice cream. Matt and I were pretty tired at this point, due to our 3am arrival at grams, so we took a little nap.

Right before five we decided to head to Rockaway, taking a short stop at the Myrtle Wood Shop in Garibaldi, where we found a beautiful cutting board for our new place. Then we went down to the jetty, and got out and walked on the beach. The day was gorgeous, and the beach was super relaxing. It was the first time we had just lolligaged and relaxed for several weeks with all of the moving we have been doing!

That evening we had a delicious roast that Gram had made, and then we played two games of crib, both of which Matt won decisively. In fact, he a a 24 crib hand!!!! We were a little disgusted, but just chalk it up to birthday luck! :>
