For our anniversary, we decided to go the the zoo in Portland and then meet Memory and Michael to see Spiderman III at the IMAX. We had wanted to get to Powell's Book Store, but didn't end up with enough time. We really enjoyed our time at the zoo though, and managed to take some fun pics.
The lorakeets were a "hoot." Unfortunately, they had already sold out their nectar for the day, so we didn't get to feed them, but they managed to put on a nice show for us anyway. This male kept showing off for a female that was already sitting with a mate! The nerve!
The tigers, and wolves were pretty relaxed when we saw them. It looked like they were taking their afternoon naps.The young elephant was very curious and came right up to the fence where we were standing. We watched her pick up small things (like blades of grass!) with her trunk and put most of them into her mouth.
The short eared owls were one of the last animals we saw before we had to rush off to meet Mem and Michael for the movie. They were in a fairly small cage, and easy to see. This seemed to be fascinated by the top of his cage...probably plotting an escape plan!
