I had the opportunity to spend two weeks at mom and dad's house for Christmas. Usually the drive takes between six and seven hours - but this time it took ten because of the road conditions. I was lucky, though. Although I left late morning after we got OVER two feet of snow in one night (fun shoveling the driveway, let me tell you) - on top of the foot or so already there....after I got about 30 miles south of Spokane, the roads cleared up and I didn't have any difficulties until Hood River. Even Hood River into Portland wasn't bad enough to put on chains, and as I never have put them on before, and had no idea how to do it, I was very grateful.
Of course after I got to mom and dad's, the freezing rain/ice storm arrived (about the same time as Megan, Andy, and Jesse) and we lost power for a WEEK! The power came on Christmas Day.
I went outside and took some pics of the nature's artwork...
