Kayaking with Karen

The third weekend in July, Karen came out to visit for the weekend, and we took the chance to go kayaking on Fish Lake. The lake is only about 10 miles from our house, and is a nice size, with lots of inlets and swampy areas to explore. It is called fish lake because most of the lakes in our area are mineral lakes that don't support fish and other wildlife.





Karen's kayak is inflatable, so we spent some time getting it ready, and it was almost dusk when we headed out. Aside from the hungry mosquitos, it was a really nice time of the evening to be out. The sunset was gorgeous, and the reflections on the water were sublime. We are sad that we didn't discover this place a long time ago (and that we just got the silly rack fixed after living here for a year without it. We are hoping that if Matt's future new job takes us to far away lands (translated as nearby states), that we have a good area to kayak close by.
