WA State Democrat Caucus
Last weekend Matt and I attended our democratic caucus to help determine our candidate for the presidential nomination. Our precinct was assigned to meet in the cafeteria at a local middle school. Last election they had assigned over 40 precincts to meet in the same room. This year there were TWELVE!!!! Wow!!! Our particular precinct was split 50/50 for Clinton and Obama. Unfortunately, the state went primarily to Obama. We both feel that Hillary has specific solutions for important problems, and that she is an experienced, strong woman, prepared from experience to run this country. Although we "like" Obama as a person, we are concerned about his apparent naivete and inexperience, as evidenced by certain comments concerning international issues, and his consistent general statements about change instead of specific, well-thought out solutions. Although we will vote for whichever candidate wins, we hope that the Democratic party choses the candidate most ready to lead, and hold out hope that they will!
I am married to Matt Kizerian, and we just celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary this year. Matt is currently working for a nuclear power start-up company, and I am teaching. We are enjoying life in Portland.
We are the proud parents of: (drumroll...) a dog, two cats, two rats, a spotted fire shrimp, a clownfish (name Nemo of course), and a yellow watchman goby (with a cute grouchy face).
